In the Samurai Swordsmanship Book+3-DVD Set, Black Belt Hall of Fame member Masayuki Shimabukuro and his senior student, Carl E. Long, explain the history, construction, rituals and techniques associated with the samurai sword.
Join these samurai masters as they share their extensive knowledge base through their book Samurai Swordsmanship: The Batto, Kenjutsu and Tameshigiri of Eishin-Ryu and the three-volume Samurai Swordsmanship DVD set upon which it was based.
From a young age, Masayuki Shimabukuro (2006 Black Belt Hall of Fame Weapons Instructor of the Year) studied judo, karate-do, Okinawan kobudo weapons and other traditional Japanese martial arts before focusing his attention on the samurai swordsmanship. In 1975, Masayuki Shimabukuro began his sword training under the supervision of Miura Takeyuki Hidefusa, 20th-generation grandmaster of muso jikiden eishin-ryu in Osaka, Japan. After Masayuki Shimabukuro was appointed international chairman of the Nippon Kobudo Jikishin-Kai, he made it his mission to spread the martial arts techniques of authentic eishin-ryu across the globe.
